Commercial Club Basket Social & Family Fun Day
The new “Basket Social & Family Fun Day” will take place on Sunday, June 23, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the LeRoy Community Center.
Three silent auction tables will be open for bidding right away. The tables will close at 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. respectively. The idea is that anyone losing a bid on an earlier table could then decide to focus their bidding efforts on a subsequent table. Similarly, the silent auction will end at 5:45 p.m. to allow bidders to re-group for the live auction, which will begin at 6 p.m. with long-time auctioneer Tom Jasper.
From 3 to 6 p.m., kids can enjoy a bounce house, face painting and balloon animals. Food tickets will be available for purchase and can be redeemed for popcorn and ice cream. Brats, hot dogs, chips and lemonade will be available beginning at 5 p.m.
Another new addition is the “Baked Goods Walk” in the afternoon. Numbered spots from one to 10 will be marked in a circle on the ground. For $2, players will walk around the circle while music is playing. Once the music stops, a number is drawn, and whoever is standing on that number gets to choose a baked good item as a prize. Players can remain in the game for however many rounds they like. Each round costs $2. The Commercial Club is still looking for donations of several more baked goods for this game.
There will also be drawings for cash prizes throughout the event.
The Basket Social is a long-running, annual event organized by the LeRoy Commercial Club to raise funds for other community event throughout the year.
