Basket Social

The LeRoy Commercial Club will be sponsoring their annual Basket Social on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 6:00 PM on the street east of Travel Lanes (inside Travel Lanes in case of inclement weather).  Basket Viewing and Social Hour will begin at 6:00 PM; the auction will begin at 7:00 PM with Tom Jasper as the auctioneer.  Start planning of what to put in a basket to donate to this great cause.  Baskets can be dropped off at City Hall or at Evans Publishing & Printing office.  Donate a basket, come to the auction to bid on a basket or two, and join the fun!!  Proceeds from the Basket Social will be used for Summer Fest and other community events.

With regrets, the LeRoy Farmers Market will not be held this year due to not having any vendors to supply their produce and products.  The LeRoy Farmers Market committee may consider offering special markets this season if vendors are willing to participate.  Please call 507-438-0553 if you would like to be a vendor.  There is no charge to be a vendor.

A Golden Fleecing

The LeRoy Community Theater performed "A Golden Fleecing" -A Melodrama-  The play is a melodrama taking place in 1870 in northern California when people were looking for gold.  There is a heroine, hero, villain, and other crazy characters that will surely get you laughing.  The LeRoy Community Theater performers did an excellent job.  Many laughs, plot twists, and great food was enjoyed by all that attended.  This Melodrama was produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc., Englewood, Colorado.

12th Annual L.A.M.A. Luau

The 12th Annual L.A.M.A. Luau was be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at the LeRoy Community Center.  The Luau featured a chili cookoff, soup cookoff, and dessert cookoff.  Winning the chili cookoff was Rick Kerr; winning the soup cookoff with her chicken dumpling soup was Pat Utz, and winning the dessert cookoff with his Oreo Poke Cake was Mitchell Frazer.  People's Choice Awards went to Pat Utz for her chili; to Pat Utz for her chicken dumpling soup; and to Mitchell Frazer for his Oreo Poke Cake.  Many items were donated for the bucket raffle.  Thank you to all that came to eat, purchase raffle tickets, and enjoy a nice evening visiting with friends and neighbors.  Special thanks to the judges and to the volunteers that helped in any way to make this a success.  This was a benefit for the LeRoy Area Food Shelf.  The LeRoy Area Ministerial Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit.

Commercial Club Basket Social raises $6,208

The LeRoy Commercial Club Basket Social, which was held on June 3, was another success. Community members donated 62 items to the annual auction, which raised $6,208 for Summer-Fest and the betterment of the community throughout the year.

Frugal Millionaire Leaves Town Fortune

A 94-year old World War II veteran who quietly amassed a small fortune by living a modest lifestyle surprised everyone in the small town of LeRoy, MN, when he passed away recently.  Loren Krueger bequeathed $3 million to various groups in his will, but only his lawyer knew about the gifts in advance.  Watch the video:
