City of LeRoy MN – Council Meeting Minutes, November 14, 2022

A special meeting of the LeRoy City Council was called to order by Mayor Ed Koppen on Monday, November 14, 2022, at 10:30 AM at the LeRoy Community Center with the following members present:  Mayor Ed Koppen, Council Members Ashley Huntley, Harold Shipman, Gerald Payne, Brian Thiel, and City Clerk Patty White.

Koppen read the due call for this special meeting and called the meeting to order at 10:30 AM.

Canvas Election Results from General Election Held 11/08/2022:

  • Council reviewed the results of the City Election held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Motion by Payne, second by Theil to receive and place on file the results of the city election as certified by the election board as follows:
    • Number who voted in city election   |   394
    • Number of ballots to account for   |   394
      • For the Office of Mayor (two-year term):
      • Edwin Koppen   |   229
      • Gerald Payne   |   151
      • Scattered Write-Ins   |   4
      • Blank Ballots   |   10
      • Total   |   394
    •  For the Office of Council Member (four-year term, two to be elected):
      • Ashley Huntley   |   293
      • Harold Shipman   |   247
      • Scattered Write-Ins   |   33
      • Blank Ballots   |   215
      • Total   |   788
    •  For the Office of Council Member (two-year term, one to be elected):
      • Brian Thiel   |   285
      • Ron Purkapile (declared write-in)   |   31

  • Motion carried 5-0. Koppen requested of council members to review their committee assignments and let him know if they would like to be appointed to a different committee.  Committee assignments will be made at the January, 2023, council meeting.

Being no further business to come before the council, the meeting was adjourned on a motion by Thiel, second by Payne at 10:43 AM.
