LeRoy’s own Humanities 101 Performing Arts Center is bringing the classic American play *Our Town* to life this fall — and community members ages 10 and up are invited to audition!
Directed by Humanities 101 founder Dawn Holmquist, the production is scheduled for October 17–19 at the intimate theater space on Main Street. Auditions will take place Wednesday, July 16 at 7 p.m., with roles available for adults, teens, and children.
Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play paints a moving portrait of life in a small town — making it a natural fit for LeRoy.
“This timeless story reflects the seasons of life in a simple, relatable way,” said Holmquist. “It really makes you pause and appreciate the moments we often take for granted.”
The production features a minimalist stage design and even uses pantomime, allowing the powerful storytelling to shine through. No acting experience is necessary — just a willingness to participate and have fun.
Families are encouraged to audition together, and alternative audition dates can be arranged if needed. Roles range from young children to older adults and include characters such as the Stage Manager (narrator), town doctor and newspaper editor, their spouses and children, and a variety of townspeople.
“Please consider auditioning,” Holmquist said. “You may make some beautiful memories.”
For more information or to inquire about an alternate audition time, contact Humanities 101 through their Facebook page or stop by the theater on Main Street.
