The November races for LeRoy City Council and LeRoy-Ostrander School Board are now set. Tuesday, Aug. 13, marked the final day candidates could file to participate in the election. Anyone else who would like to vie for a seat on either group will need to do so as a write-in candidate.
Here is an overview of who will be competing in the Nov. 5 elections:
LeRoy City Council
The LeRoy City Council has openings for mayor and two council seats. Running for mayor are:
- Edwin Koppen (incumbent).
- Randy Sager.
- Diane Whalen.
Running for the two council seats are:
- Paul Apenhorst.
- Chastidy Sweeney.
- Brian Thiel (incumbent).
- Devin Wallace.
Current council member Gerald Payne did not file for re-election.
Leroy-Ostrander School Board
While the LeRoy-Ostrander Public School Board will have four open seats, only three district residents have filed their candidacy. They are:
- Daniel Evans.
- Nicole Wallace.
- Jessica Yoch.
Current board members Pat Arndorfer, Dave Lunning and Deb Reburn did not file for re-election. Board member Amanda O’Byrne recently resigned from her position after moving out of the district.
