The LeRoy Commercial Club is teaming up with LeRoy-Ostrander Community Education to present the first-ever Fall Fest in LeRoy. The inaugural event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at North (Baumbach) Park .
Activities for all ages
Fall Fest will include a vendor and farmer’s market, baking contest, games, a Color Run, a Halloween-themed golf cart and ATV parade, and a Trunk-or-Treat event. A brat and hot dog lunch will also be served. The full event schedule is listed below.
Commercial Club president Brent Dohlman says the idea to create Fall Fest began with the Color Run.
“We were trying to build something around the Color Run to make that event a success, and when we heard that Community Education wanted to do the Trunk-or-Treat event, it went from there,” he said. “With no farmer’s market currently in town, we thought that would be a nice addition, and then why not also add vendors and kids games.”
Staying true to its mission to promote local businesses, the Commercial Club is also offering a one-day punch card promotion during Fall Fest. Anyone making a purchase at A Gift to Gab, Ed’s Floral & Gifts, Emporium 56, Sweet’s Hotel & Restaurant, Travel Lanes and at the Fall Bazaar at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Oct. 5, can get a card punched and enter it in a drawing for LeRoy Bucks during Fall Fest. The punch card does not have to be completed. Each punch is eligible for one entry in the drawing, so up to six entries are possible. Punch cards will be available at participating businesses the morning of Fall Fest.
Color Run, Trunk-or-Treat
Community Education is hosting the Color Run and Trunk-or-Treat events during Fall Fest.
During the Color Run from 3-4 p.m., participants run or walk a designated route while volunteers throw colored powder at them at each marker. The powder is made from food-grade corn starch, baking soda, and FD&C dyes, and is certified non-toxic and free of heavy metals. Participants usually wear white clothing to maximize the visual impact of the colors, and finish the race covered in color. The cost is $5 for kids (0-10 years) and $10 for age 10-adult. Registration is available online.
Individuals, businesses and organizations are also encouraged to participate in the Trunk-or-Treat event from 6-8 p.m. Decorate your vehicle and hand out candy to kick off the Halloween season. Anyone interested in hosting a trunk for the event should contact Community Education Director Kate Rohrer.
